Where to ride in Florida

The state program

Off-Highway Vehicle Recreation Program, run by Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Florida Forest Service.

The Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services supports a statewide system of carefully planned and operated OHV recreation areas that will successfully meet the growth and demand for this activity.

  • Residents

    Florida OHV certificate of title (s. 317.0006, F.S.)

    Any off-highway vehicle that is purchased by a resident of this state after the effective date of this act or that is owned by a resident and is operated on the public lands of this state must be titled pursuant to this chapter.

    Proof of ownership in place of a Florida OHV title (National Forests in Florida)

    Out-of-state riders without a Florida OHV title are required to possess proof of vehicle ownership.

    Florida OHV title (FDACS OHV Guidebook)

    A title is required for all OHVs (all-terrain vehicles and off-highway motorcycles) operated on all public lands where OHVs are allowed.

    A pass is required to ride OHV trails in the Apalachicola National Forest.

    A permit is required for each OHM/ATV using Clear Creek OHV Riding Area.

    Florida state forest motorcycle area permit (FDACS OHV Guidebook)

    A permit is required to ride within the motorcycle area. The permit must be displayed on the front of each motorcycle and ATV.

Places the managing agency describes for off-highway riding, grouped by who runs them. The list is a starting point, not every trail in the state: the Forest Service and the BLM publish motor vehicle use maps for everything else.

  • Clear Creek OHV Riding Area (Blackwater River State Forest)

    Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Florida Forest Servicenear Milton

    Established in 2015, the Clear Creek Off-Highway Vehicle Riding Area has over 50 miles of trail dedicated to the OHV riders.

  • Ocala North OHV Trail System

    USDA Forest Service, National Forests in Florida (Ocala National Forest)

    The Ocala North OHV Trail System offers 125 miles of trail which includes a 14-mile motorcycle-only trail; 35 miles of trail usable by motorcycles, all terrain vehicles (ATVs), and utility vehicles (UTVs) less than 50 inches wide; and 76 miles classified as "mixed use," which means OHVs share the trail with licensed vehicles.

  • Motorcycle Loop OHV Trailhead (Ocala National Forest)

    With twisting, winding narrow trails through longleaf pine and scrub forest, the Motorcycle Loop is a physical challenge and open to motorcycles only.

    Unlicensed vehicles less than 65 inches are allowed on the Ocala Centennial OHV Trail system.
