Read this first
Seat height is one number among several. A seat drops when a rider sits on it, by an amount that depends on the rider’s weight and the suspension setup, and seat shape, bike weight and riding experience matter as much. The only real test is sitting on the bike with both feet down and the bike upright.
Seat heights come from each bike’s owner’s manual where we have read it, and from the maker’s spec sheet otherwise (marked as research). Before a first ride, work through the first-ride checklist, and set the suspension for the rider with the sag calculator.
