The European boot standard, what to check on the label, and how to size riding boots.

Reading the label

In Europe, motorcycle boots are tested to the standard EN 13634. The label names the standard, so look for it on the boot or its tag.1

Many off-road boots sold in the US carry no certification at all, so the label is worth checking rather than assuming.

Getting the size right

Use the maker’s size chart and try boots on with the socks you ride in. They should hold your heel down when you flex your ankle and still let you work the brake and shift levers.
